GLP-1 medications
Ozempic is PBS-subsidised for type 2 diabetes (with criteria), not weight loss. The PBAC recommended Wegovy for PBS listing in late 2025, with listing expected around mid-2026 for obesity with established cardiovascular disease. Mounjaro isn’t PBS-listed - a private script runs roughly A$350–400/month, and private Wegovy about A$395/month.
Peptides
The TGA schedules peptides tightly. Many sit in Schedule 4 (prescription-only) and several are effectively off-limits - Melanotan II moved to Schedule 9 in early 2026, making possession a criminal matter. Compounded and “research” peptides are the focus of an active grey-market crackdown.
