TL;DR

Testosterone (TRT)

On the NHS, testosterone is prescribed only when total testosterone is clearly low - broadly under 8 nmol/L, or under about 10.4 nmol/L if you’re also treated for erectile dysfunction - and gels or patches are favoured over injections. Prescriptions cost £9.90 per item in England, but an endocrinology referral can mean a 9–12 month wait. Men who don’t meet the NHS threshold typically use a private men’s-health clinic: roughly £75/month for Testogel up to about £175/month for Nebido, or around £95–125/month at a full-service clinic that bundles medication, kit and monitoring.

GLP-1 medications

NHS access runs through a Specialist Weight Management Service - typically BMI 35+ (or 30+ with a weight-related condition) - with multi-month waits and limited local capacity. Privately, Wegovy runs about £99–250/month and Mounjaro about £139–340/month; Eli Lilly raised Mounjaro’s UK list prices in late 2025, so the highest doses climbed sharply.

Peptides

Research peptides such as BPC-157 and TB-500 are not licensed medicines in the UK and aren’t prescribed on the NHS or by mainstream private clinics. What’s sold online is unregulated “research only” material with no quality or sterility guarantee - firmly buyer-beware under the MHRA.

What you'll actually pay

The drug is only one line item. Your real monthly spend is medication + lab work + clinic/consultation fees + supplies. The cheapest script with no monitoring is usually the most expensive choice over a year. Use the vial longevity & cost-per-dose calculator to compare options on true cost-per-shot.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get TRT on the NHS?

Yes, but only if your total testosterone is clearly low (broadly under 8 nmol/L, or under ~10.4 nmol/L if also treated for erectile dysfunction) and you have symptoms. Expect a referral and a long wait; many men use a private clinic instead.

Is Mounjaro available on the NHS?

Through Specialist Weight Management Services for eligible patients (generally BMI 35+, or 30+ with a related condition), but capacity is limited and waits are long. Most people currently pay privately.

Are peptides legal in the UK?

Approved medicines are legal with a prescription. “Research” peptides like BPC-157 are not licensed UK medicines and are sold unregulated; quality and legality are not assured.
